Where the pictures come from

We use images under licences that permit reuse and adaptation — CC BY, CC BY-SA and the public domain. We do not use news-agency photographs, and we do not use images under licences that forbid derivatives.

Why they are archive images

We hold no pictures from the scene and do not pretend otherwise. The image attached to a report shows the place or the context, not the incident, and that is written under every one so it cannot be read as anything else.

If a picture is yours

If you find your photograph credited wrongly or used outside its licence terms, write to us and we will correct it or take it down straight away.
